INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC – MUS 100

MUS 100 Introduction to Music Mtn. Home AFB Education Center or Gowen FieldOffered in the evenings this fall at both Gowen Field and Mountain Home AFB. This course, open to all students with no background assumed, will familiarize the listener with the variety of styles and genres of Western concert music through a historical approach.
Satisfy your Visual and Performing Arts requirement (DLV) or enjoy a lower-division music course closer to home.

INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION – COMM 221

COMM 221 Interpersonal Communication Gowen Field Examination of interaction between persons. Focuses on awareness of how the self, the communication process, and context affect interpretations, outcomes, and relationships. This course has the potential to benefit students inside and outside the classroom with content that is applicable to a variety of contexts.

SPECIAL TOPICS: INTERNATIONAL CRIME AND TERROR – CJ 497

CJ 497 International Crime and Terror Gowen FieldIn the contemporary, Post-9/11 environment, the fine line between criminals and terrorists seems to be dissolving – causing these groups to become intertwined and, at times, one in the same. This special topics class will explore the nexus between crime and terrorism. It focuses on the varying descriptions and definitions of terrorism as well as exploring its relationship with international crime. It provides a broad overview of the relationship between criminals and terrorists by comparing and contrasting these related groups.
International Crime and Terror will explore the nature and background of international and transnational crime to include, genocide, war crimes, money laundering, and drug trafficking. The class begins by exploring the individual dynamics of terrorism and international crime followed by an examination of how these variables interact.

INTRODUCTION TO COLLEGE WRITING – ENGL 101

ENGL 101 Introduction to College Writing Mtn. Home AFB Education CenterIntroduction to critical reading and to writing processes, including invention, revision, and editing. Emphasis on writing thoughtful explorations of readings, observations, ideas, and experiences; developing the author’s voice and inventiveness; editing for style and conventions of standard usage. Knock out this required course in a condensed, 8-week session.
